time-lapse technology

Technology sometimes fails, whether explicably or inexplicably. There's no point pretending that any time-lapse system is perfect - there will be rare occasions when they go down.

The fault can often be diagnosed, and possibly fixed, remotely but every so often we'll need rectify the issue in person. Which means driving to site (can be a 10hr or so round trip, at times).

We can't always ascertain the problem prior to arrival so must be prepared for any eventuality, going as far replacing entire systems. In order to maintain consistency within the footage, it's necessary to match all sorts of hardware and software settings, such as lens type, focal length, framing etc to the previous system.

Experience goes a long way towards getting this right but care and attention to detail are significant factors too. A combination of all three can achieve top quality results in difficult circumstances.

In this video, we replaced the entire set-up half-way through the project but it's pretty tricky to spot the transition in the final footage.
