Time-lapse camera resolution

When discussing cameras, image resolution can be quite a deceptive topic.
For instance, on the face of it, a 4K camera sounds higher quality than an HD one.
There are, however, multiple factors that affect the final standard of output - such as:
- Bit depth.
- Compression algorithm
- And the often overlooked factor of lens qual
If you're going to project your final video onto an extremely large screen, then a higher numerical resolution would be beneficial but for most applications (particularly for displaying on the internet) HD with a high bit depth camera and a good quality lens will be more than enough.
Fortunately, our remotely operated time-lapse cameras can be altered to output any resolution up to 4K, with the non-remote ones going even higher. So the options are open - you just have to decide how much you're willing to spend for the extra pixels!
